The EPS file format allows fonts to be embedded into the EPS file,
removing the need to distribute separate font files with EPS files.
One of the specialty programs we use to create our SoftMaster EPS Bar Codes
will embed the font 'MefcoOcrb'. These EPS files are self-contained, and can
be printed without the need for any additional fonts.
Unfortunately, some
programs that deal with EPS files do not understand Embedded Fonts.
Typically these programs notice that the EPS file uses the 'MefcoOcrb' font,
but fail to notice that the font is embedded in the EPS file. The most
common symptom is an error message warning of a missing font. Even though
this message can safely be ignored, it is a problem for many workflows.
A separate issue is that some software attempts to convert the EPS file into
an internal format. This conversion process typically strips the embedded font
from the EPS file.
As a solution, we are offering the 'MefcoOcrb' font as a stand alone font.
Having this font installed should satisfy your software that the font is
available and eliminate the related missing font errors.
The 'MefcoOcrb' font is available as a PostScript Type-1 font for Macintosh
or PC compatible computers.
